We are thrilled to announce that St Neots Rowing Club is now generating its own renewable electricity thanks to the installation of a brand new solar and battery storage system.☀️⚡🔌🔋

This project has been made possible through the generous support of the Warwick and Dominey Fund administered through the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, whose grant has enabled the club to make a significant investment in its sustainable future. We are extremely grateful for their support.

The new system includes 34 solar panels and battery storage, giving the club the ability to generate clean electricity during the day and the battery allows the club to store unused electricity for later use. The system is expected to produce around 15,000 kWh of electricity each year. This is enough energy to boil well over 500,000 kettles!! 

A special thank you also goes to Machelec, who designed and installed the system. The whole experience was exceptional from start to finish. Their team were professional, friendly and highly organised throughout the project. Impressively, the entire system was installed, tested and commissioned in just three days (🤯), with very little disruption to club activities. 

This project is a significant step forward in ensuring the long-term sustainability of the club and unlocking new investment opportunities. For example, in future this could enable the club to switch from petrol to electric launches to reduce carbon, noise and environmental pollution.
