St Neots Rowing Club wins at Head of the East race

St Neots Rowing Club clinched victory at the 2025 Head of the East race.

The event, held on March 2, was hosted by West Norfolk Rowing Club, with three St Neots crews competing along the 4km course on the Great Ouse at Downham Market.

The day began with races started by Sarah Leatham, St Neots chair and British Rowing umpire.A women’s coxless quad, featuring Beckie Dixon, Lillian Lochner, Olivia Marsh, and Clara Zwetsloot, completed the course in just over 17 minutes.

The crew did not have competition in their category.

The masters’ women’s team from St Neots, coxed by junior Molly, also raced without direct competition, finishing in 20 minutes and 33 seconds.

The highlight of the day was the Open 2x category, where Bradley Willies and Matt Wigmore from St Neots took on crews from Beccles, the Royal Navy, and West Norfolk. The St Neots double quickly overtook the West Norfolk crew and went on to overtake five more boats, winning the category.
